Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom

 

Antiphon Prayer:

Christ God, enthroned with the Father and the Holy Spirit, when You extended Your arms on the Cross, You attracted the whole world to Your knowledge. Illumine us today by its light. Sanctify us by its power. Comfort us by its Exaltation. And make us worthy to partake of Your divine glory.

For You are our salvation, O Christ God, and to You we render glory and to Your Eternal Father and Your All-holy, Good and Life-giving Spirit, now and always and forever and ever.

 

صلاة الأنديفونة: أيها المسيحُ الإله، يا من عُلقَ على الصليب حُبًّا لَنا، طهَّرنْا من خطايانا. وطِّدْنا بالأيمان. ثَبِّتْنا بالرجاء. وأحزم نفوسَنا بمحبةِ صليبكَ، لكي نصبحَ هياكلَ لروحك القدّوس، لأنك أنتَ نورُنا وحياتُنا، ولك أنْ تُخلِّصنا، أيُّها المسيحُ الإله، وإليكَ نرفعُ المجدَ والشكرَ والسجود، وإلى ابيك الأزلي ورحِكَ القدّوس، الصالح والمحيي، الآن وكل أوان...

 

Entrance hymn: Extol the Lord our God and worship at His footstool for He is Holy. O Son of God, Who were crucified in the flesh…

ترنيمة الدخول: ارفعوا الربَّ الهَنا واسجدوا لموطئ قدميه، فانه قدّوس خلّصنا يا ابنَ الله، يا من صُلبَ بالجسد، نحنُ المرنمين لك هللويا

 

Troparion of the Resurrection (Tone 7): You destroyed Death by Your cross. * You opened paradise to the thief. * You changed the weeping of the myrrh-bearers, * and commanded Your apostles to proclaim * that You, have risen O Christ God, * granting to the world great mercy.

 

نشيد القيامة باللحن السابع: لاشيتَ بصليبكَ الموت، وفتحت للصِ الفردوس، وحولت نوحَ حاملات الطيب الى فرحٍ، وأمرتَ رسلكَ أن يكرزوا مبشرين بأنك قد قمتَ، أيها المسيحُ الاله، مانحاً العالم عظيمَ الرحمة.

 

 

Troparion of the Feast: (Tone 1) (3 times): “O Lord, save Your people and bless Your inheritance, granting peace to the world. And preserve Your community by the power of Your Cross.”

 

نشيد الصليب الكريم المقدس باللحن الأول (ثلاث مرات) خلِّصْ يا رب شعبَكَ وبارك ميراثَك مانحًا العالم السلام، واحفظ بقوة صليبك رعيّتَك.

 

Troparion of St Barbara: Let us praise the most venerable Barbara, who pierced the enemy's net and, like a trapped ostrich, escaped from it through the strength-giving weapon of the cross.

 

نشيد القديسة بربارة باللحن السابع

لنُكرِّمنَّ القديسةَ بربارة، فقد كسرت هذه الجزيلة الوقار فخاخ العدو، ونجت منها كالعصفور بمعونة الصليب وسلاحه 

 

Kondakion of the Feast: (Tone 4)

O Christ God, who chose by Your free volition to be elevated upon the holy cross, grant Your mercies to Your new people who are called by Your name.  In Your power gladden the hearts of our public authorities. Strengthen them in every good deed so that Your true alliance may be for them a weapon of peace and a standard of victory.

 

قنداق الختام لرفع الصليب (اللحن الرابع)

يا مَن رُفعَ على الصليب طوعًا، ايها المسيحُ الإله، امنَحْ رأفتكَ لشعبكَ الجديدِ الملقَّب باسمِك.  فرّحْ بقدرتكَ ملوكَنا المؤمنين. مانحًا إِياهم الغلبة على محاربيهم. لتكن لهم نُصرَتَكَ سلاحَ سلامٍ وشعارَ انتصار.

Sunday Before the Exaltation of the Holy Cross

الأحد 13 ايلول 2026 الأحد قبل رفع الصليب المقدس 

Epistle of the Feast: 1 Corinthians 1: 18-24

PROKIMENON: (Tone 7) Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at His footstool, for He is holy.

Stichon: The Lord is reigning let the people’s rage; He is enthroned upon the Cherubim: let the earthquake.

READING from the First Epistle of St. Paul to the Corinthians

BRETHREN, the doctrine of the cross is foolishness to those who perish, but to those who are saved, that is, to us, it is the power of God. For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and the prudence of the prudent I will reject (Is. 29: 14; 33: 18).” Where is the “wise man,” where is the scribe? Where is the disputant of this world? Has not God turned into foolishness the “wisdom” of this world? For since, in God’s wisdom, the world did not come to know God by “wisdom,” it pleased God, by the foolishness of our preaching, to save those who believe. For the Jews ask for signs, and the Greeks ask for “wisdom” — but we for our part preach a crucified Christ, to the Jews indeed a stumbling-block and to the Gentiles foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ, the power of God and the wisdom of God.

ALLELUIA: (Tone 1) Ps.73: 2, 12 Remember Your congregation which You have acquired from the beginning: You redeemed the scepter of Your inheritance.

Stichon: God is our King forever: He brought about salvation in the midst of the earth.

 

مقدمة الرسالة

ارفعوا الربَّ الهنَا واسجدوا لموطئ قَدَمَيْه، فانه قدّوس

الربُّ قد ملك فلتسخطِ الشعوب، هو جالسُ على الشيروبيم، فلترتجفِ الارض

الرسالة (1 كورنثوس 1: 18 – 24)

يا اخوة، ان كلمةَ الصليبِ عند الهالكينَ جهالة. واما عندَنا نحنُ المخلَّصينَ فهي قوَّةُ الله. لأنه قد كُتِبَ: سأُبيدُ حكمةَ الحكماء، وأَرذلُ فهمَ الفهماء. اين الحكيم؟ اين الكاتب؟ اين محجاجُ هذا الدهر؟ أَليس اللهُ قد جَهَّلَ حكمةَ هذا العالم؟ فانه اذ كان العالم، وهو في حكمةِ الله، لم يعرفِ اللهَ بالحكمة، حَسُنَ لدى اللهِ ان يُخَلّصَ بجهالةِ الكرازةِ الذين يؤمنون، لان اليهودَ يسأَلون آيةً، واليونانيين يطالبونَ حكمةً، أَما نحنُ فنكرز بالمسيح مصلوباً، شكًَّا لليهودِ وجهالةً لليونانيين، اما للمدعوين يهوداً ويونانيين، فالمسيحُ قوَّةُ اللهِ وحكمةُ الله

أُذكر جماعتَك التي اقتنيتَها منذ القديم، لقد افتديتَ صولجانَ ميراثك

اما للهُ فهو ملكُنا قبلَ الدهور، أجرى الخلاصَ في وسطِ الارض.

 

Gospel John 3:13-17 - Sunday before the feast of the Holy Cross (The Son of Man must be lifted up…)



The Lord said, “No one has gone up into heaven except the One Who has come down from heaven: the Son of Man Who is in heaven. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that those who believe in Him may not perish, but may have life everlasting.” For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that those who believe in Him may not perish, but may have life everlasting. For God did not send His Son into the world in order to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.

 

الإنجيل (يوحنا 3: 13 – 17)

قال الرب: لم يصعد احدٌ الى السماءِ، إِلا الذي نزلَ من السماء، ابنُ البشر الكائنُ في السماءِ.  وكما رفعَ موسى الحيَّةَ في البرية، هكذا ينبغي ان يُرْفَعَ ابنُ البشر، لكيلا يهلكَ كلُّ من يؤمن به، بل تكونَ له الحياة الابدية.  هكذا ٌأحبَ اللهُ العالم، حتى إنهُ بذلَ ابنَه الوحيد، لكيلا يهلكَ كلُّ من يؤمنُ به، بل تكونَ له الحياة الابدية، لأنه لم يرسل اللهُ ابنَه الى العالمِ ليدينَ العالم، بل ليُخَلصَ به العالم.

 

Hymn to the Theotokos: (Tone 8) Hirmos of the 9th Ode of the Feast

O Mother of God, you became a mystical paradise when without tilling you brought forth Christ our God by Whom the life-giving tree of the Cross was planted on earth.  Wherefore we deeply bow before this Cross which is exalted today, and we magnify you.

 

النشيد لوالدة الإله باللحن الثامن

يا والدة الإله، انتِ الفردوسُ السرّي، اذ انكِ انبتِ المسيحَ بغيرِ فِلاحة، الذي بِه نُصِبَتْ في الارض شجرةُ الصليبِ الحاملِ الحياة. فالآنَ نسجُدُ له مرفوعًا، وإِياَّكِ نعظّم.

 

Kinonikon: Let the light of your Face shine on us, O Lord. Alleluia.

ترنيمة المناولة:

قد ارتسمَ علينا نورُ وجهك ياربّ، هللويا
