The angelic powers were around your tomb, and the guards became as dead, and Mary stood at the tomb, seeking your spotless body; Then You despoiled Hades without being tried by it, and You met the Virgin O Bestower of life. O Lord, who rose from the dead, glory to You!

 

نشيد القيامة باللحن السادس: إن القوات الملائكية ظهرتْ على قبرِك، والحراسَ صاروا كالأموات، ومريمَ وقفتْ عند القبر، طالبةُ جسدكَ الطاهر. فسلبتَ الجحيمَ ولم تنلكَ بأذى، ولاقيت البتول َواهباً الحياة. فيا من قام من بينِ الاموات، يا رب المجدُ لك.

O Holy Apostle Matthew the Evangelist, intercede with God all-merciful that He may grant us the remission of our sins.

Kontakion of the Presentation of our Lady to the Temple (4th tone)

The most pure Temple of our Holy Savior, and the most precious and bright bridal chamber, the Virgin, sacred treasury of the glory of God, openly appears today into the temple of the Lord, bringing with her the grace of the most Holy Spirit. Wherefore the angels of God are singing: “This is the heavenly tabernacle!”

ان هيكل المخلص ِ الاطهر، البتولَ الحجلةَ الوافرةَ الكرامة، وكنزَ مجدِ اللهِ المقدس، تدخلُ اليومَ الى بيتِ الربّ، وتُدخِل معها نعمة َ الروحِ الالهي.  فيُسبحُها ملائكةُ الله: هذه هي المظلةُ السماوية.

PROKIMENON: May your kindness O Lord be upon us for we have hoped in You.

READING from the First Epistle of St. Paul to the Corinthians

BRETHREN, I think God has set forth us the apostles last of all, as men doomed to death, so that we would become a spectacle to the world, and to angels, and to men.

We are fools for Christ, but you are wise in Christ!  We are weak, but you are strong!  You are honored, but we are without honor!  To this very hour, we hunger and thirst, and we are naked and buffeted and have no fixed home.  And we labor, working with our hands.  We are reviled and we bless, we are persecuted and we bear with it, we are maligned and we console; we have become as the refuse of this world, the scum of all until this present time.  I write these things, not to put you to shame, but to admonish you as my dearest children.  For although you have ten thousand tutors in Christ, you have not many fathers.  Therefore, I beg you, be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.

O God, You granted me retribution and made peoples subject to me, and saved me from my raging enemies.

لتكنْ يا ربُّ رحمتُك علينا، بحسَبِ اتكالنا عليك

ابتهجوا أَيها الصِدّيقونَ بالربّ، بالمستقيمينَ يليقُ التسبيح

 

الرسالة (1 كورنثس 4: 9 – 16)

يا إِخوة، ان اللهَ قد أَبرزَنا نحن الرسلَ آخِري الناس، كأَنَّا مجعولونَ للموت. لانَّا فد صرنا مشهداً للعالمِ والملائكةِ والبشر. نحنُ جهَّالٌ من أَجلِ المسيح، أَمَّا أَنتم فحكماءُ في المسيح. نحن ضعفاء، أَما أَنتم فأَقوياء. أَنتم مكرَّمون، أَما نحن فمهانون. وحتى هذه الساعةِ نجوعُ ونعطش، ونَعْرى ونُلطَمُ ولا قرارَ لنا، ونتعبُ عاملينَ بأَيدينا. نُُشْتَمُ فنُبارِك، نُضطَّهَدُ فنحتمِل. يُشَنَّعُ علينا فنتضرَّع. قد صرنا كأَقذارِ العالم، كأَوساخٍ يستخبثُها الجميعُ حتى الآن. ولا أَكتبُ ذلك لإخجالكم، لكني أَعظُكم كأَولادي الاحبَّاء. لأنه ولو كانَ لكم ربواتٌ من المعلمينَ في المسيح، ليس لكم آباءٌ كثيرون، لأني أَنا ولدتُكم في المسيحِ يسوعَ بالإنجيل. فأَطلبُ إِليكم أَن تكونوا بي مقتدين.

اللهُ هو المنتقمُ لي، ومُخضِعُ الشعوبِ تحتي

المُعَظِمُ خلاصَ الملك، والصانعُ رحمةً إِلى مسيحِه.

 

Gospel Luke 10:25-37 - 8th of Holy Cross

At that time, behold, a certain lawyer got up to test Jesus, saying, “Master, what must I do to gain eternal life?” But he said to him, “What is written in the Law? How do you read?” He answered and said, “You shalt love the Lord thy God with your whole heart, and with your whole soul, and with your whole strength, and with your whole mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” And he said to him, “You have answered rightly; do this and you shall live.” But he, wishing to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” Jesus answered, “A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell in with robbers, who after both stripping him and beating him went their way, leaving him half-dead.  But, as it happened, a certain priest was going down the same way, and when he saw him, he passed by.  And likewise, a Levite also, when he was near the place and saw him, passed by.  But a certain Samaritan as he journeyed came upon him, and seeing him, was moved with compassion. And he went up to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine.  And setting him on his own beast, he brought him to an inn and took care of him.  And as he was leaving the next day, he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper and said, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, I, on my way back, will repay you.’  Which of these three, in your opinion, proved himself neighbor to the man who fell among the robber?”  And he said, “The one who took pity on him!”  And Jesus said to him, “Go and do as he did.”

 

الاحد الثامن بعد الصليب (لوقا 10: 25-37)

في ذلكَ الزمان، دنا الى يسوعَ واحدٌ من عُلماءِ الناموسِ، وقال مجرّباً له: يا معلم، ماذا أَعملُ لأَرِثَ الحياةَ الابدَّية؟ فقالَ له. ماذا كُتِبَ في الناموس. كيف تقرأ؟ فأجاب وقال: أَحبب الربَّ إِلهكَ بكلّ قلبكَ، وبكلّ نفسكَ، وبكلّ قدرِتك، وبكلّ قلبكَ وبكلّ ذهنكَ، وقريبكَ كنفسِك. فقال بالصوابِ أَجبتَ، افعل ذلك فتحيا. فأَرادَ ان يُزكّي نفسهُ فقالَ ليسوع: ومَن قريبي؟ فعادَ يسوعُ وقال: كانَ انسانٌ مُنحَدراً من أُورشليمَ الى أَريحا، فوقع بين لصوصٍ فعرُّوهُ وأَوسعوهُ ضَرباً، ثمَّ مضوا وقد ترَكوه بين حيِّ وميِّت. فاتفق أَنَّ كاهناً كان منحدراً في ذلك الطريقِ فأَبصرَهُ وجاز.  وكذلك لآويٌ وافى المكانَ، فأَبصرَه وجاز. ثمَّ أنَّ سامرياً مسافراً مرَّ بهِ، فلمَّا رآه تَحنّن. فدنا اليه وضَمدَ جراحاِتهِ، وصبَّ عليها زيتاً وخمراً، وحمَله على دابّتهِ الخاصةِ وأَتى بهِ الى فندقٍ واعتنى به. وفي الغدِ، عند انطلاِقِه أَخرجَ دينارَين وأَعطاهُما لصاحبِ الفندقِ وقال: اعتن بهِ. ومهما تُنفقْ فوقَ هذا فأَنا أَدفعه لكَ عند عوتي. فأَيُّ هؤلاءَ الثلاثةِ تحسَبُهُ صارَ قريباً للذي وقعَ بين اللصوص؟ قال: الذي صنع اليه الرحمة.  فقالَ له يسوع امض واصنََعْ أَنتَ أيضاً كذلك.

 

HIRMOS: It is truly right to call you blessed O Theotokos…
